About that Macworld Video

Remember way back when we posted a jerkycam walkthrough of Macworld Expo?

Back then we promised a iMovie ‘09 demo of the video stabilization functionality, in a re-release. Well, you’ve asked, and we’re going to explain why we aren’t posting one.

Because, iMovie ‘09 won’t stabilize the video. While a lot of it was stable enough, a lot of it wasn’t, and the result isn’t even worth posting to show. Despite Apple’s claims, you have to have a consistent wave of jerky-ness in order for the video to be computed.

And yes, we did try. The entire clip took over 14 hours on a 2008-era MacBook Pro just to calculate the video for stabilization.
