Amazon Announces New Kindle DX, Featuring 9.7 Inch Screen
This morning, Amazon released the details of their new Kindle DX as expected. The event saw many members of the press paying close attention to everything CEO Jeff Bezos had to say about the new product.

Its specs include a 9.7 inch display that can rotate into a landscape view, has a storage of 3.3GB and a PDF reader. However, it comes at a price of $489 which may go down a bit with subsidized prices from newspaper companies offering deals to their costumers. If Amazon keeps the price tag of $489, it is going to be hard for potential customers to commit to such a product, as money management has become very important recently.
Amazon is asserting the new Kindle’s permanence with partnerships with textbook publishing partners with a few big names like Prentice Hall and Wiley Higher Education. In addition, textbooks being a huge part of higher education, Amazon also has contracts with universities such as Princeton, Reed, and Arizona State to name a few, who have agreed to distribute Kindle’s to their students in the fall. For those students graduating high school, the way in which you don’t study and procrastinate could drastically change. It is set to be available in the summer, but you can pre-order your very own Kindle DX on Amazon right now.
All in all, it turned out to be a successful event and debut for Amazon and the Kindle DX. As long as Amazon can figure out how to market the new Kindle, and whether or not the price remains the same, will ultimately dictate the success and longevity of the DX.
