The wait is almost over for those holding out on buying an Amazon Kindle until it got bigger. The New York Times announced that Amazon will be releasing a larger type of its Kindle e-reader this week. This was confirmed a few hours later by Amazon itself announcing a press conference for this Wednesday, May 6th at 10:30 am regarding the release of a larger version of the Kindle. In fact, the New York Times will be partnering with Amazon on the larger device.

The size increase is due to a demand for bigger screen size which leads to the ability to maintain the traditional structure of print media layouts. This allows for more ads and other revenue raising methods newspapers and magazines use. Overall the device will allow for more on the go reading without the bulk of book and newspapers. All that awaits now is the official word during the press conference on Wednesday about the release. Amazon looks to be the pioneer in e-readers with its larger Kindle. Other well known companies such as Apple and Plastic Logic are rumored to be on their way to follow in the footsteps of Amazon. The future of news seems to no longer lie on paper, rather on the larger screens.

We will have the latest news from the Amazon press conference, so stay with us.
