Archos Announces Windows 7-based MiniPC

The Archos 9PCtablet, launched at the Archos annual press event today, differs from its smaller predecessors in a big way. This new MiniPC runs on Windows 7, both of which are set to ship in Europe this October. It also forgoes the physical keyboard, replacing it with an on-screen one as well as the more precise control afforded by an optical trackpoint.

Archos 9

Keeping things portable and affordable, the Archos 9 is equipped with a a 1.2GHz Atom Z515 processor that power down to as low as 800MHz in low-power mode. Hard drive space is 80 GB, and some of the extras include Bluetooth capabilities, as well as a DVB-T tuner for digital TV reception in Europe.

Even though most Archos devices are sold stateside, so far the only information to cross the wires is that the scheduled European release will be this October 9th, for about €450 ($636). Since it runs on Windows 7, it can only be released until Windows 7 has been made officially available. Whether Archos 9 will be sold in the US, or when that will be is still unknown.
