Dell Drops Della, Launches Lifestyle

Remember Dell’s immense blunder of Della – a website designed for women launched barely over a week ago? Many people, including us, were saying how it was stupid for Dell to launch a new site aimed at helping women make tech choices. It was a website that featured the normal women stereotypes, such as using pink text, flashy colors, and portraying business women dressed with glasses.

As you can probably imagine, Dell received a lot of fire in the blogging world about this, and it ultimately led them to removing the site and replacing it with a simple Lifestyle website. Dell attempted to aid women in technology, but failed in how they approached it. I think women are fully capable of making their own choices when it comes to PCs and other tech products, and if not, they can always seek outside help.

Anyway, back when Della was announced, many users Tweet’d and blogged on Facebook about the stupidity of Dell’s latest action. Due to all the negative feedback received, Dell took the appropriate action and axed the website. It will be interested to see if any other websites do what Dell just did, or if they learned from Dell’s mistakes.
