Digsby Receives an Upgrade

ImageA few weeks ago, I caught up with the CEO of Digsby, Steve Shapiro.   By the way he answered the questions, I could tell he was optimistic about Digsby’s future as an IM client.

Today, I received an email from the Public Relations department about several new features hitting Digsby.

Something you may notice when using Digsby was the inordinate amount of CPU usage it would take up. This posed a problem to many users as they want to be able to run other applications along with the client.  One of the main fixes was reducing the CPU usage and they are proud to announce memory usage has been cut by 50%.   A new buddy list search function has also been added along with several new emoticons.

In addition, file transfer bugs have been fixed, conversations can display in the task bar rather than popping up with each new response, a new infobox, additional Twitter support, additional MySpace support, and many other bug fixes.  If you are already using Digsby, then the update should be automatic the next time you try to sign in.  Otherwise, it’s a pretty cool program that’s definitely worth checking out if you use AIM, Google Talk, Facebook Chat, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or MySpace.
