Eee PC 4G BIOS Updated
ASUS has posted Eee PC 4G BIOS version 0910. This makes a few improvements to startup times, as well as some updates to the system’s video BIOS. Some of the changes will enable future support of scrolling 1024×768 video (not finished yet, ASUS is still working on it). The update also makes various other changes that are undocumented. ASUS encourages all Eee PC 4G owners to update.
The update has been circulating around for a few weeks, but only yesterday did it become an official release from ASUS’s servers.
For future reference, I will require all guides to be running the latest BIOS for the particular Eee PC. So, I’ll be linking back to this post for reference when guides are posted.
To update your BIOS (the easiest way), follow these steps:
1) Download BIOS 0910 from ASUS’s web site. If the server is not responding (or you have trouble finding the file), use our mirror here.
2) Unzip the file to your desktop
3) Open ASUS Update (Start > All Programs > ASUS Update)
4) From the pull-down menu, chose Update BIOS From File
5) Select the update file on the desktop
6) Follow on-screen instructions to finish the update
The reason we do this is that ASUS’s online BIOS update software is very buggy. It fails about 99 times out of every 100 tries. This has been a known issue with ASUS Update for a good five years… ASUS seems uninterested in fixing it (mostly because they follow the steps above internally to update).
Once you complete the update, the system will reset, and you will be prompted to ether reset BIOS settings to defaults, or enter BIOS setup to re-do any changes you’ve made. After that, your BIOS should read version the latest version in BIOS setup, as well as under Check BIOS Information in ASUS Update.

The easiest way to update is to copy the update file, and rename it to 701.rom
Remember that you must use a FAT (not FAT32) unit, or the updater will not be able to read the file. I’m giving you this advice because it was the key for me in order to update EEE.
After that, reboot and press ALT + F2. Just leave the USB stick or memory connected, remember to remove all other peripherals.

An even easier way is to go into the Easy Desktop mode, then go to Settings, add/remove software, settings, Bios, and click open. It guides you through the update.
