Hulu is one of my favorite websites to use. It has many, many TV shows and movies from the most popular shows and popular movies. If there is nothing to watch on TV, I can guarantee to find a new or old episode of a classic television show. One of the downfalls to Hulu was their lack of Disney programming, which includes ABC. Recently, there have been plenty of rumors regarding Disney joining Hulu, but today it became official.

In terms of content, here is an excerpt from the press release.

# Full-length episodes of ABC primetime programs like Lost, Grey’s Anatomy, Desperate Housewives, Ugly Betty, Samantha Who?, Scrubs, Private Practice and popular late night talk show Jimmy Kimmel Live
# Full-length episodes of hit ABC Family series like The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Greek
# Popular series from ABC Daytime and SOAPnet like General Hospital and The View
# Classic series from ABC’s library like Hope and Faith, Less Than Perfect, Commander in Chief, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire and Dancing with the Stars
# Select hit programs from Disney Channel like Wizards of Waverly Place and Phineas and Ferb which can be easily accessed from a new DISNEY location in the Channel section of Hulu.com
# Popular library titles from The Walt Disney Studios
# Short-form content including webisodes, sneak peeks and episode recaps from ABC Entertainment, ABC Family and SOAPnet

As you can see, the amount of content they added with this one deal will definitely please a lot of ABC/Disney fans. Hulu is making a strong case to say that they are the real web 2.0 video site. In case you were wondering how much Disney is getting from the deal, they are making 27% of total profits. If you aren’t familiar with how Hulu works, they run various length ads a few times throughout the show to make money. None of the ads run longer than 30-45 seconds.

It looks like everyone wins in this deal. Hulu, of course scores big, Disney gets another outlet to advertise their content, and you, the public gets even more shows and movies to watch.
