Microsoft Announces Windows 7 Pricing
Ever since the Windows 7 OS became available as a Release Candidate, and then when the official availability was announced; one important question remained.
How much will the OS actually cost and will it be worth it? Of course, it’s hard to accurately predict whether it will be worth it, but pricing for the new OS has been confirmed by Microsoft.
To begin with, let’s discuss the 14 languages it will be available in on October 22, the official launch date.
Language availability on that date will compriise English, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.
On October 31, the OS will be available in 21 additional languages including Turkish, Czech, Portuguese, Hungarian, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian, Finnish, Greek, Ukrainian, Romanian, Arabic, Lithuanian, Bulgarian, Estonian, Slovenian, Hebrew, Thai, Croatian, Serbian Latin, and Latvian.
Wherever you live and whatever language you speak, you should be able to find a Windows 7 OS available in your language. Let’s say you want to buy a computer running Vista tomorrow, users will have the option to automatically upgrade the system from Vista to Windows 7 for little to no cost.
This promotion will end January 31, 2010, and it is available globally. As the summer season has just begun, many college students will purchase new computers and Microsoft wants these users to upgrade to Windows 7 when the time comes.
If you are looking to upgrade your computer to Windows 7, here are the prices you would have to pay. To upgrade to Windows 7 Home Premium, it will cost $119.
To upgrade to Professional edition, it will cost you $199. Lastly, the Ultimate version will cost $219. However, if you are looking to purchase the full version, meaning without upgrading, that will cost a bit more. Home Premium will cost $199, Professional will cost $299, and Ultimate will cost $319.
One last thing, the general public can pre-order Windows 7 starting tomorrow. Basically, the Windows 7 Home Premium version will cost $49.99, and the Windows 7 Professional will cost $99.99. Overall, this is another great promotion but is set to end on July 11, or when supplies run out.
