Microsoft Shakes Up Entertainment & Devices Division Once Again
Microsoft today announced that they are making another round of sweeping changes to their divisions.
The last major changes formally announced, was that the Media Center and Mediaroom divisions would be consolidated. This resulted in the major announcements previously covered at CES; namely Mediaroom 2.0, Media Center & Mediaroom Integration, as well as Mediaroom slinging to Windows Mobile.
Today Microsoft announced that Xbox and Zune divisions would be formally merged. This may stem from the move to make Zune and Xbox more portable, with the noted development of Xbox Live for Windows Mobile and Zune for Windows Mobile.
Also announced was that the Mediaroom team would once again be spun off into a separate branch of the Entertainment & Devices division. This shift signals the completion of the much-complained-about lack of integration between Mediaroom and Media Center.
