The 3.5 Release Candidates have come and gone and today Firefox version 3.5 is officially available for download.    Firefox version 3.5 aims to fix all bugs found in the previous release candidates and have speeds that match Google Chrome and Safari 4, two of the major competitors.

In terms of speed, 3.5 is said to be twice as fast as 3, but no word on how speed compares to Chrome and Safari 4. One complaint users have with Firefox is the inordinate amount of memory the browser takes up.

The development team took the appropriate measures to help reduce the amount of memory used. Another cool feature is private browsing mode, which allows you to go into this mode whenever you want and it does not leave traces behind that you visited such a site. Many other improvements focus on overall browser and internet security – which is always a plus.

Be sure to let us know in the comments if you plan on downloading Firefox 3.5 and your thoughts on the latest Mozilla product.
