It looks like the Mac clone maker is taking another step forward. Quo Computer owner Rashantha De Silva has announced that the first Mac clone retail store will open on June 1st in California.

Quo Computer is perhaps the most famous Mac clone seller in the country. The company takes orders for custom computers and designs them to resemble Macs as much as possible, even including Mac OSX on their computers, and selling them at a cheaper price. While Apple has so far refrained from directly challenging Quo, you can bet that this new step will certainly be the straw that breaks the camel’s back.

As of now we don’t know which computers will be sold in the retail store nor the pricings, although its thought that they will aim for products less than $900. If you’re interested in buying one, the sooner you purchase it the better, because I don’t expect this store to be open for very long. I can almost hear Apple’s lawyers sharpening their knives right now.

Apple has a reputation for protecting their intellectual property fiercely, but until now Quo hasn’t given them enough cause to really go after them. However, the clone makers will most likely have a lawsuit on their hands soon enough. Apple’s best argument is the fact that Quo is installed Mac OSX on non-Apple machines, which is strictly prohibited, according to Apple’s EULA. De Silva maintains a rather naïve outlook on the whole endeavor, stating that he hopes Apple “sees the value in what we are doing.” While the Mr. Job’s lawyers probably don’t agree, their interest in Quo’s new store will certainly be sharp.
