Windows Home Server 2010 to Run on Windows 7 Server
In an interview by TechRadar, the Windows Home Server team has confirmed two upcoming revisions to the Windows Home Server platform.
First, later this year, an update will be released for Windows Home Server, along the lines of Power Pack 2. This update will add significant new functionality and improvements, much as Power Pack 1 did… but will focus on improving the existing Home Server. In other words, broad, core-level features will remain mostly the same.
However, in 2010, Windows Home Server will get its first major upgrade. Details are still sparse, aside from previously discussed integration with products such as Windows Media Center. Most importantly however, the WHS team confirmed that the first upgrade to WHS will be based on Windows 7 Server.
Today, Windows Home Server is based on Windows Server 2003 SBS. While WHS shipped around the same time as Windows Server 2008, the WHS team decided to continue developing WHS around Server 2003. In doing so, the team was able to ship the current version of Windows Home Server without significantly delaying the product. Now that WHS is part of the Windows family, the WHS team appears to be developing future versions in parity with the rest of the Windows platform.

Integration with Media Center would be _awesome_. _One_ extra machine that sits near your home theater handling all your home networking and processing needs.
